Vine

Brachetto vine has a story made of ups and downs, which has surged in popularity in the last few decades.

It seems that it was widespread in the Piedmont region since Roman times, though the first references in documents ampelographic date back to 1800.

Disappeared almost completely from the late nineteenth century and early twentieth due to phylloxera, and then repopulate slowly in the late twentieth century up to the intuition of his sparkling winemaking which became a must in consumption, especially youth at the turn of nineties.

The leaves are medium round, dark green in color, has a cluster of medium-sized, elongated with cylindrical shape, compact and tight. The berry is large with thick dark blue.

In particular in Roero area takes the name of “brachetto from long cluster of Roero”, as the cluster is actually longer than the average.

It’s a vine rather rustic, with good vigor and productivity from medium to high, constant.

The grape was once used for both the table and to obtain aromatic dry wines, which are treasured for special occasions.

Today the long grapes Brachetto is vinified obtaining a sweet wine, bright color, intense and pleasant aroma, worthy of qualified and original production.
